A $5.00 Lawn mower

A couple of weeks ago we went on a family walk and Aaron and I saw someone tossing out a lawn mower. The neighbor guy said that he thought it was broken. Aaron told him that he'll see how badly it was. Well we get it home and try starting it. It started with no problem but then it putt-putt and died. So Aaron started to take it apart and clean it. He put it back together and start it up again. It putt-putt a little bit longer then died. I washed the airfilter while he was at work and then he tried to see if it would stay on longer. It did but not much. Then we went to a lawn mower repair place and got a quote of $55 to fix it. Then I sugguested we go to Lowe's and talk with someone there if there was an alternative solution. After describing the problem the guy suggested we use Gumout Small Engine Carb + Choke Cleaner because it sounded like the tube was gummed up. Aaron was determined to pay the $$$ but I said lets give this stuff a try. Got home and Aaron sprayed it in the gas tank and it would only stay on for a little bit longer. He kept banging the mower against the ground to keep it going. He did that so much that he knocked the bar loose. So he tightened it up and put some of the gumout in the oil and started it back up. Started it and the next thing we know it is working with no problems. Though it did have a cloud of white smoke for quite a while.
